The Art of War by Sun Tzu | Full Audiobook | All Warfare Is Based on Deception

"All warfare is based on deception," says Sun Tzŭ in the first of his thirteen chapters. In the third he writes that "supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." Listen to all thirteen chapters of The Art of War in Lionel Giles' English translation, read straight through by one narrator, with every chapter heading read aloud. Laying plans; the cost of a long campaign ("there is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare"); attack by stratagem, where the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities; tactical dispositions, where a conquering force bursts like pent-up waters into a chasm; energy; weak points and strong ("Water shapes its course according to the nature of the ground"); manœuvering ("Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night"); the army on the march; terrain; the nine situations and the shuai-jan snake; the attack by fire; and the use of spies. "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles." English subtitles appear on screen, and English captions (CC) are available too.
