Why Has Switzerland Not Fought a Single War in 500 Years ? | #DeafTalksNews

Hello and Welcome to Deaf Talks News! One small country in the middle of Europe has stayed completely peaceful for over 500 years. No wars. No battles. No military conflicts. That country is Switzerland. It is a small country. It is surrounded by France, Germany, Italy and Austria. All four of its neighbours have fought massive wars at different times in history. But Switzerland sitting right in the middle of all of them chose a completely different path. Before 1515, Switzerland was actually a very powerful and feared military force. Swiss soldiers were known as the best and most fearless fighters in all of Europe. In 1515, the war between the French and Swiss military. Unfortunately, the Swiss lost half their entire army. After this crushing defeat Swiss leaders sat together and made a historic decision. They said we will never again fight wars for other countries or for conquest. We will stay neutral. We will focus only on protecting our own land. This means even in the biggest wars in history Switzerland was guaranteed to stay out. World War 1 & World war 2 or any war Switzerland stayed neutral. Every major conflict in the world for 500 years Switzerland stayed out. But neutrality is not the same as being defenceless. Every Swiss male between 18 and 34 is required to do part-time military service. Switzerland has bunkers built into its mountains that can shelter the entire Swiss population. Neutral does not mean weak. Switzerland became the banking capital of the world because every country trusted a neutral country with their money. The country became one of the wealthiest in the world because it spent money on banks and innovation instead of bombs and wars.
