Bible in a Year Day 277 Matthew 8:5-13 Luke 7:1-150 Matthew 11:1-30 While Jesus was in Capernaum, a centurion sent servants to Jesus begging that He heal his servant who was paralyzed at home. Jesus was amazed at the man’s faith in His authority. Luke adds that the man loves Israel and built their synagogue. Matthew adds that Jesus told the crowd that many will come from the east and the west into the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be cast out. Luke 7 tells the story of Jesus going to Nain and resurrecting a widow’s only son as he was being carried from the city. Jesus gave instructions to His 12 and went to preach in their cities. John the Baptist sent his disciples to Jesus to ask if He was the Messiah. Jesus confirmed it, saying He is Elijah (Matthew 11:14). He spoke words of tribute about John the Baptist to the crowd. Jesus reprimanded the people because they did not repent after seeing the miracles done among them. Then he praised the Father. “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30). Luke adds the story of Jesus dining at the house of a Pharisee. A woman, who was a sinner, came and washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and her hair.
