Not bodybuilding, not bro splits. Swing notebook from the Next Gen Worlds fundraiser tournament. This was the last weekend tournament before Worlds, and it turned into an absolute home run derby. Two free wristbands, unlimited extras you could buy, cold weather, hard balls, UTrip bats, and short fences meant the boys were daddy hacking all day. As a team, we hit 64 home runs. I finished 17 for 22 with 8 home runs, started 13 for 13, then completely fell apart for a stretch because I stopped focusing and started chasing the home run race instead of staying with the swing that was working. The big theme of this notebook is the new “Amish cut swing” feel. I’ve been messing with a longer arm, flatter barrel, and better barrel release feel, and this tournament was the first time I really got to test it in games. When I trusted the cut swing, the ball jumped. When I tried to lift, dip, and hit the 500-foot daddy hack, the swing got sloppy. We break down the difference between cutting the ball for distance and forcing the home run swing, why unlimited home run tournaments can mess with your approach, how the new swing feel is helping me turn the barrel, and why this might be the next big unlock going into Worlds. We also get into pitching, playing infield, missed tags, almost making a sick play at second, Sammy’s tournament pitching debut, Nick and Dan’s home run race, and the team energy heading into Worlds. 00:00 Next Gen Worlds fundraiser recap 04:00 64 team home runs and wristband chaos 08:00 The Amish cut swing feel 12:00 Starting focused and taking walks 16:00 Cutting the ball versus lifting it 20:00 Home run race and bad pitch selection 25:00 Pitching, fielding, and missed tags 30:00 Going 13 for 13 then falling apart 35:00 Championship game reset 40:00 Worlds mindset and offseason swing work Extras: The cut swing works when I trust it.
