Germany's Tiger, Panther and King Tiger were some of the most powerful tanks of World War II, yet on the Eastern Front in 1943 and 1944 they spent much of their time broken down, in workshops, or abandoned. Using German war diaries, Soviet trial reports and British test records, this documentary shows why: overloaded drivetrains, a Panther final drive simplified for production, gearbox faults, poor fuel, starved spare parts, hard recovery in mud, and a retreating front that turned every breakdown into a loss. From the first Tigers captured near Leningrad in January 1943, to Akhtyrka, Slatopol and the Korsun fighting in Ukraine, to the King Tigers at Sandomierz in August 1944, we follow the men on both sides who lived with these machines, and look at where the sources agree and where they don't.
