On October 31, 2019, a Beechcraft Baron took off from Ocala, Florida, on what should have been a routine maintenance test flight. Just two minutes later, the aircraft crashed onto a busy four-lane highway, killing both occupants and seriously injuring a person on the ground. What happened in those final minutes was deeply troubling. Air traffic control recordings captured a pilot who appeared confused, failed to respond to multiple calls, and seemed unsure of his aircraft’s position. Moments after takeoff, he requested to return to the airport. But the aircraft never made it back. Investigators found no mechanical failure that could explain the crash. Instead, attention turned to the pilot’s medical condition and the possibility of physiological impairment. This aviation documentary examines the final moments of flight N959CM, the unsettling ATC communications, and the investigation into what may have caused a routine test flight to end in tragedy.
