Welcome to Episode 3! Today, my wife Sony and I are taking you into the heart of local town life: the Monday morning pop-up street market right here in Paiporta, Spain.
Every Monday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the area around Plaza Cervantes transforms into a massive open-air maze of over 80 stalls. If you want to update your wardrobe, buy plants, or grab home goods on a budget, this is the ultimate insider secret. But for expats and travelers, there is a major catch you need to know: this outdoor market has absolutely no fresh food!
In this video, we explain the unwritten rules of the "mercadillo," take a quick walk through the permanent indoor Paiporta Municipal Market where the fresh produce lives, and share a vital local tip about shopping with cash. We also stop to enjoy an incredible South American Indian street busker playing hauntingly beautiful pan flute music right on the sidewalk.
Plus, if you don't live in Paiporta, I am sharing the rolling weekly street market schedule for all the surrounding towns in the Horta Sud region so you never miss a bargain day!
