Soon after, Vishakha discovers that the younger son, Vikas, is secretly in love with an impoverished girl named Komal, whose culinary talent lies in making an extraordinarily spicy and flavorful chutney. Championing their love, Vishakha convinces the hesitant family to welcome Komal as the younger daughter-in-law, fostering an unusually warm, sisterly bond between the dewrani and jethani that defies the neighborhood's toxic norms and draws fierce jealousy from their gossiping neighbor Kamla and her quarreling daughters-in-law, Simran and Anjali. Trouble strikes during a heavy monsoon season when Vishakha's brother Rajiv leaves a black bag full of his wife's gold jewelry in Vishakha's wardrobe for safekeeping; when the family returns from an out-of-town temple prayer that Komal skipped due to illness, the jewelry is gone. Fueled by instigations from Mami Kamini, previous knowledge of Komal's family needing medical funds, and false eyewitness testimonies from the envious neighbor sisters, the entire family accuses Komal of the theft, leading an enraged Sharda to banish both Vikas and Komal into the pouring rain. Unknown to them, Vishakha secretly arranges shelter for the banished couple through an acquaintance, even as she cuts ties out of sheer betrayal, while the household falls into catastrophic ruin when Madhav loses his job and the parents fall gravely ill with exorbitant surgery costs. Desperate to save her in-laws, Vishakha sets up a roadside pakora stall, which initially flops because customers demand spicy chutney, forcing a reluctant truce with Komal, who steps in to supply her signature condiment; together, their complementary flavors turn the stall into a massive local sensation, generating enough income to successfully fund the parents' life-saving medical operations. Driven by a desire to repay Rajiv for the lost gold, Vishakha visits a local jeweler to buy new ornaments, only to spot Rajiv’s original jewelry on sale, which the jeweler reveals was sold by local thugs who frequently loiter at a tea stall. Confronting the goons, Vishakha uncovers the devastating truth that her own husband, Madhav, stole the bag to pay off heavy gambling debts and had threatened to divorce Vishakha and destroy her life if Komal ever spoke up, forcing Komal to bear the blame in silent sacrifice to protect her sister-in-law's marriage. Vishakha convenes the entire family, coaxes the truth out of Komal, exposes Madhav's misdeeds along with the neighbor women's malicious lies, and tearfully reconciles with Komal as the family begs for forgiveness; with Madhav vowing to reform and repay his debts, the reunited family embraces peace, and the two loving sisters-in-law happily run their thriving pakora-and-chutney business together.
