Should you warm up before hiking?
The answer depends on the hike.
A gentle walk from the trailhead may already give your body the warm-up it needs. But if your hike starts steep, you're carrying weight, you're hiking in cold conditions, or your body needs a little more preparation, a short dynamic warm-up can make a lot more sense.
In this video, I’ll show you 5 simple hiking warm-up exercises you can do right at the trailhead. I'll also share why I usually don't immediately start stretching before every hike, the difference between dynamic warm ups and static stretching, and how to decide what makes sense for your hike.
