Research Security on the Road: Hidden Risks in International Travel

International travel can create research security risks in places researchers and institutions may not expect. This candid conversation will examine how event sponsors, contacts abroad, electronic surveillance, and the exposure of information or technology can turn seemingly routine travel into a potential concern—even in destinations considered lower risk. Amanda and Khushal will share lessons from Northeastern’s approach and discuss how research security and global safety teams can work together to identify and address travel risks. Attendees will also learn about NSF SECURE Center travel resources, including the Country Awareness Map, and practical approaches institutions can incorporate into existing travel processes.
