Welcome back to Griff's Magic Theatre, where the records don't come from playlists created by algorithms, they come from shelves full of well-loved singles that have survived decades of being played far too loudly. This week's show heads off down some wonderfully strange roads. We've got garage rock, psychedelia, blues, beat, prog and a healthy dose of music that probably should have been much bigger than it was. Along the way you'll meet familiar names like Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Deep Purple, Status Quo and Canned Heat, but they'll be rubbing shoulders with some gloriously obscure bands whose records deserve to be heard just as much. There's something rather satisfying about putting artists like The Wimple Winch, Southwest F.O.B., Sasperella, Shyster and The Hysterics in the same programme as the household names. Sometimes the records that sold the least end up being the ones you remember the most. So settle back, turn up the volume, and spend the next hour wandering through another collection of records that have somehow found their way into Griff's Magic Theatre.
