Sunny Summer Ride through Maryland Parks, Neighborhoods, & Nature Come along for another relaxing ride through Maryland neighborhoods, peaceful parks, winding bike paths, wooded trails, scenic backroads, and, naturally, another visit to the ever-unpredictable haunted golf course. No racing, no training plans, and no pressure to set a personal best. Just a bicycle, a beautiful summer evening, some relaxing nature sounds, and another chance to enjoy the familiar route as the day winds down. One of my favorite things about documenting these rides is seeing how different the same roads and trails can feel from one day to the next. The weather changes, the light shifts, wildlife comes and goes, and the seasons slowly transform the scenery around us. Tonight was simply a great night to be on a bike. Sunny skies gave way to a pleasantly cool evening, creating nearly perfect conditions for a relaxing ride. After some of the heat, humidity, thunderstorms, and soaking-wet trails we’ve experienced lately, it was nice to have a straightforward summer evening without Mother Nature introducing another plot twist. The cooler air made it easy to settle into a comfortable pace and just enjoy the scenery. Parks, neighborhoods, wooded paths, and open stretches of road all looked fantastic in the late summer light, and there was no reason to rush through any of it. And yes, before the gear experts arrive in the comments, I am fully aware that I don’t shift nearly as often as I probably should. My strategy remains simple: put the bike in a difficult gear and see who gives up first, me or the drivetrain. Somehow, neither side has admitted defeat.
