This village, Mori, is in the north-central part of Kochi Prefecture, Japan. In this mountainous region rich in nature, the Niyodo River, known for its crystal-clear blue waters, and its tributary, the Choja River, flow through the area. Many people associate Kochi Prefecture with the scenery featuring submersible bridges (bridges without railings, designed to be submerged in rivers during floods), and here in Mori, you can also see two submersible bridges, one large and one small. Although these bridges have largely served their purpose with the construction of new bridges, they were once indispensable to the people living in the area as the only route across the Niyodo River and the Choja River. Furthermore, many houses line the riverbank, and their eclectic arrangement creates an interesting landscape.
