Our own viewpoint can feel like the whole truth.
In Chapter 2 of the Zhuangzi, the Discussion on Making All Things Equal, familiar distinctions begin to shift. Right and wrong, beauty and ugliness, self and other depend on the perspective from which we see them.
This video explores the chapter’s main stories, from the piping of heaven and the monkey keeper’s “three in the morning” to Lady Li and the famous butterfly dream. Together, they challenge our attachment to fixed opinions and identities, revealing a world of continuous transformation.
Making all things equal does not mean making them identical. It means recognising the limits of our own perspective and seeing things within the broader unity of the Dao.
