Rainy Night at a Scottish Highland Coaching Inn 🌧️🔥 | 4 Hours of Slow Celtic Folk & a Wayside Fire

The last coach went by hours ago, and the rain has not let up since. 🌧️🔥 Through the long window by the door you can see the whole glen in it: the rain streaming down the glass, the tall Scots pines black against the cloud, the old packhorse bridge, and the burn below it running high and white over the stones. Up above the hills the moon keeps slipping in and out. In here it is dry and warm. The whitewashed walls are holding the lamplight, bunches of dried hops hang along the beams, and the copper pans on the chimney breast are catching the glow of the big stone hearth, which is burning low and wide over a deep bed of embers. Down the room the long table is set with candles, the benches have fleeces thrown over them, and the bottles behind the bar shine at the far end. The leather armchair has been drawn up to the fire, with a tartan blanket over its arm, and on the little table beside it a lantern is lit and a whisky is already poured. The chair is yours.
