How much should you spend on a hotel—and when is it actually worth paying more? We stay in everything from local hotels and inexpensive properties to major international brands and luxury resorts. And we've learned that the “best” hotel isn't necessarily the nicest one—or the cheapest one. In this video, filmed at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, we talk about how we actually choose hotels when we travel. We discuss location, price, room size and type, breakfast, lounge access, hotel status and perks, local hotels versus familiar American and international brands, and when we're willing to spend extra for a little luxury. We're also discovering that the way we choose hotels changes depending on how we're traveling. For a quick two-night stay, we may barely spend any time in the room. But if we're staying somewhere for a week or two, suddenly room size, laundry, breakfast, a refrigerator, a comfortable place to sit, the surrounding neighborhood and other little things start to matter a whole lot more. And that's becoming a bigger part of how we're thinking about travel in retirement. We're not trying to travel as cheaply as possible. We're trying to figure out what's actually worth paying for. How do you choose your hotels? What's something you'll happily pay extra for—and what's something you couldn't care less about? 👍 If you enjoy traveling with us, please give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to WanderingPalz as we figure out how we want to travel in retirement—what works, what doesn't, what it costs and what's actually worth it. 🏡 We use TrustedHousesitters when we travel.
