Lord, Show Me the Good You Are Doing in This Hard Season | Morning Prayer for Perspective

A morning prayer for perspective when you cannot see what God is doing, and a prayer for the season that has gone on longer than you planned. What if the reason this stretch looks empty is that the work is going on somewhere you have not been looking? There is a sentence we reach for when something has run on a long time. Nothing to show for it. Months of getting up and doing the thing, and not one item you could put on a table in front of anybody. But showing needs a room and somebody looking, and God has never worked that way. This prayer goes looking for the work instead of the proof: a valley that keeps its name and gets a door put in it, a record read out in the middle of a night years after anybody stopped expecting anything of it, grain carried past a family's own table and buried, heaviness and great rejoicing standing in one sentence, and a life that is not missing but hid with Christ in God. If you have been quietly working at something nobody has asked you about, this one was written from there.
