Our original study machines a shallow, open-ended straight slot across a rectangular blank in a teaching simulation. It is simple enough to review every coordinate, state change and tool-envelope relationship, while still requiring a real distinction between the centre path and the material removed. We will interpret the assigned geometry, plan the sequence, calculate the feed relationships, read the original program and define the evidence needed to review it. The code and cutting values are educational inputs. They are not an approved physical machine program or a recommendation for a particular cutter, alloy and setup.
Moving diagrams, worked examples and separate practice answers for Machinist learners.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Interpret the original open-slot drawing and plan suitable datum, workholding, tool and operation requirements.
• Calculate cutter-centre entry/exit, retained coordinates, finite-tool sweep and original geometric removal studies.
• Write and trace the original manual program and calculate labelled cutting-speed, feed-per-tooth and ideal feed-time relationships.
• Review code, setup and feature evidence while separating exact interpreter checks, browser simulation and actual machine/part verification.
CHAPTERS
0:00 Build a small manual program that can be checked completely
0:45 State the geometric target and the missing production requirements
5:17 Worked entry: include the cutter radius and an assigned gap
5:57 Worked exit: clear the far edge before retracting
9:36 Worked cutting speed: preserve diameter and unit conversion
10:21 Worked feed: distinguish per tooth, per revolution and per minute
13:18 Worked path time: the tool travels beyond both stock ends
14:03 Worked total: add only the feed segments covered by the model
14:51 Worked ideal removal: geometry and model sampling are different
15:38 A wrong cutter diameter can pass syntax checks and change the slot
18:43 Review every block with its required state and physical meaning
19:33 Practice: plan new outside-stock endpoints and feed calculations
20:32 Answer: use radius, both outside ends and the full depth change
21:20 Application: revise the plan when a requirement changes
22:11 A complete manual study connects drawing, state and verification
HOW TO STUDY
Watch the mechanism. Explain the example aloud. Pause for practice. Recall the answers tomorrow.
