Mombasa Road Transformation Continues! New Bus Bay, Walkways & Drainage Progress | Nairobi 4K

Join me on another 4K walking tour along Mombasa Road, Nairobi, as I check the latest progress on the ongoing walkway, drainage, paving and road improvement works. Starting near the Purple Tower, I find ongoing paving works where sections of soil are being dug, flattened and prepared, while marram has also been leveled in some areas. A short distance ahead, sections of the pedestrian walkway have already been completed with tactile paving and drainage infrastructure. I also come across a newly constructed and tarmacked bus picking and dropping area, designed to help reduce the disruption caused when public transport vehicles stop directly along Mombasa Road. The location is particularly important because the roundabout connects Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway and Lang'ata Road, making it a major traffic junction in Nairobi. I then continue towards Toyota Kenya, where I check on the progress of the storm water drainage project. Compared with my earlier visits, most of the drainage work is now complete, with only a relatively small section remaining. Workers are still using concrete to form parts of the drainage channel, and I also capture a concrete mixer operating at the site. As I continue towards Highway Mall, I notice that drainage covers have already been installed in some sections. Further ahead is one of the earlier-developed walkway sections, although some garbage has unfortunately accumulated along the side. Eventually, I reach the Bunyala Road area, where the current walkway comes to an end — marking the end of this Mombasa Road walk.
