This acrylic pouring weekend did not go according to plan.
I created three paintings while struggling with consistency, trapped colors, bubbles, a dead phone battery, and even stepping in paint. When my final attempt also began turning muddy, I added coconut milk silicone oil to one color and started again.
This video shares the real process behind the finished artwork because social media usually shows us the wins, not the pile of paintings creeping out of the closet that the artist considers fails. Sometimes the paint refuses to cooperate, and you have to reach for another tool in your toolbox.
All three original paintings will be available on my website. If you are interested in one before it is listed, please reach out to me.
This Friday also marks one year since I began sharing my artwork on social media. I’ll be celebrating with a special anniversary sale on my website, with details coming soon.

🎨 Materials & Colors
The complete color palette is shown on screen throughout the video.
Colors Used
Burnt Orange
Olive Green
Deep Turquoise
Rose Gold
Permanent Maroon
Titan Buff with TLP Shimmer
Payne’s Grey
Pouring Medium
4 parts Floetrol
1 part Golden Heavy Gel Gloss
Water added as needed to reach the desired consistency
The paint and pouring medium ratio may need to be adjusted depending on the brand, pigment, and consistency of the paint.
Silicone Oil
Coconut Milk Silicone Oil added to the orange during the final attempt
Silicone is not something I use in every painting, but for this pour it helped create separation, definition, and cells when the colors continued blending together.

🌿 About Sweetgrass Art Studio
I discovered fluid art during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. What began as a creative outlet became a place of healing, peace, and purpose.
Today, every piece I create is a reminder to slow down, embrace the process, and find beauty in the unexpected.
My work is inspired by nature, movement, and the colors that bring me peace. I create blooms, swipes, traveling open cup pours, translucent pearl pours, and mixed media artwork while embracing texture, movement, and negative space.
✨ Find yourself in the flow. Find peace in the pour.
