Translucent Pearl Pour on a Black Canvas | Finally Nailed It!

16x20 canvas Hi, I’m Heather Townsend, the artist behind Sweetgrass Art Studio. This translucent pearl pour is the first one I’ve created at home where I truly felt like I got the recipe dialed in after learning this beautiful technique from Sara Taylor at her fluid art retreat in Deer Lake, Washington. When I came home from the retreat, I thought recreating the recipe would be the biggest challenge. It turned out the biggest lesson had nothing to do with ingredients. In this video, I share one of the most valuable things I’ve learned about translucent pearl pours. If you feel like you’ve lost too much color during the process, don’t be afraid to intentionally add it back. In this painting, I added color back while it was still wet and again after it dried to strengthen the final composition.
