CANDELARIA TENERIFE 🇪🇸 Basilica of the Virgin, Old Town & Seafront | 4K Walking Tour

CANDELARIA TENERIFE 🇪🇸 A relaxing 4K walking tour through Candelaria, on the east coast of Tenerife: from the big mural at the entrance of the town, along the shopping street and the black pebble beach, to the Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria, patron saint of the Canary Islands, then up the stairs of the old upper town and back down to the seafront and the town hall. Real ambient sounds, no talking: just the walk, the sea and a sunny morning in September. ▶️ All my journeys around the world:    • BLOMBLAUM Journeys | 4K Walking Tours   We start at the roundabout with the giant mural and cross the bridge over the barranco into the centre. The pedestrian street takes us past shops, cafés, a little fountain and the posters of "La Pasión", the famous Passion play that the whole town performs in the streets every Easter 🎭. The sea is just a few steps away: a black volcanic pebble beach with deep blue water 🌊. Right next to it, something unique: a miniature Holy Land carved into the rock, with hundreds of tiny figures and Bible scenes, from the Beatitudes to the Resurrection 🕯️. Along the long street parallel to the sea we reach the heart of Candelaria: the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria ⛪, built between 1949 and 1959, home of "La Morenita", the Virgin of Candelaria, patron saint of all the Canary Islands. Every August thousands of pilgrims walk here on foot from all over Tenerife. The Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias, with its nine bronze statues of the Guanche kings, is under renovation during this walk, so we see it with its yellow fences 🚧. Then we climb into the old upper town: stone stairs, white houses with wooden balconies, the pottery centre (Centro Alfarero) and the little church of Santa Ana, the oldest part of Candelaria. From up here, the view over the bell tower and the Atlantic is wonderful 😍. We finish walking back down to the seafront avenue, the town hall, the palm trees and the small harbour ⚓. 🌼 THE BLOM SIDE OF THIS WALK A holy place right by the sea, black pebbles and blue water, quiet lanes in the old town and real Canarian life far from the big resorts.
