According to police, one of the accused, Mohd. Sahil alias Babu alias Sahil, is a 28-year-old resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, with eight previous criminal involvements. The second accused, Mohd. Azad, is 20 years old and resides in New Seemapuri, Delhi. Stolen gold jewellery has also been recovered. The case highlights how accused persons linked to different areas of the Delhi-NCR region may be involved in crimes across district and state boundaries. According to police, on September 30, 2026, a woman named Nisha, a resident of Nangal Raya, Delhi, reported that gold jewellery had been stolen from her house. Following her complaint, an e-FIR was registered at Mayapuri Police Station under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). CCTV Footage Helped Police Track the Accused During the investigation, the police team examined CCTV footage from multiple locations to trace the movements of the suspects. A detailed analysis of the recordings helped investigators develop leads about their whereabouts. Acting on these leads, the police laid a trap in the Seemapuri area on October 7, 2026, and apprehended both Mohd. Sahil and Mohd. Azad. During the investigation, police recovered gold jewellery linked to the burglary. Gold Jewellery Recovered The recovered items include: • One gold chain • One gold ring • One pair of gold earrings • Four gold tops Eight Previous Criminal Involvements: Sahil's Record Under Scrutiny One of the most significant aspects of the case is the alleged criminal history of Mohd. Sahil. According to Delhi Police, he has eight previous criminal involvements. His background raises questions about his possible involvement in other incidents, which investigators may examine as part of their ongoing inquiry. The arrest also brings attention to the challenge of investigating crimes across Delhi-NCR, where suspects may have links to different cities and localities. However, this individual case alone does not establish that criminals from Uttar Pradesh are increasingly travelling to Delhi to commit offences. Police are investigating whether the two accused were involved in any other burglary cases and are examining their previous records. Following their arrest, Sections 317(2) and 3(5) of the BNS were also added to the case. The operation was conducted by the Mayapuri Police team under the supervision of senior officers of West District. Case Details: E-FIR No. 80083154/2026, dated September 30, 2026, registered at Mayapuri Police Station under Sections 305/331(3)/317(2)/3(5) BNS.
