This 20-minute resistance band workout is designed to help seniors build everyday strength, the kind that makes walking, climbing stairs, and getting up from a chair feel easier. It strengthens your whole body from the ground up with one simple band. April leads it standing while her mom Aiko follows along seated, so you can get stronger after 60 at your own level.
You will move through band exercises for your whole body: step backs and leg presses, hip hinges for your glutes and hamstrings, lat pulls and a diagonal reach for your back, core, and arms, and a grocery-style functional carry. A stronger walking challenge finishes it off. You can do it all standing or seated, and you will need a resistance band, with the tension you choose setting your challenge.
Go at your own pace, rest as needed, and choose a band tension that challenges you without straining. With regular practice, this gentle strength training can help you build muscle, move easily, and stay strong and mobile.

📅 How Often Should I Do This Workout?
This total-body resistance-band workout can generally be performed 2–3 times per week, allowing your muscles time to recover between strength-training sessions. On the days in between, consider walking, balance, mobility, or gentle flexibility workouts. If you're just beginning, resistance training could start with 2 days per week, then progress based on how you feel and recover.
❤️ What Are You Getting Stronger For?
Maybe it's traveling, gardening, walking, playing with your grandchildren, doing things around your home, or simply continuing to do the things you love independently.
💪 Tell us in the comments: What are YOU getting stronger for? Mom and I would love to hear from you!
