Migraine is a neurological condition that can cause throbbing headache, nausea and sensitivity to light, sound or smells. While triggers vary from person to person, irregular sleep, dehydration, skipped meals, stress and certain foods can contribute to attacks in some people.

In this video, Hansaji explains a practical 21-day approach that focuses on supporting the nervous system and developing consistent daily habits.
You will learn about:
1. Kapalbhati as taught at The Yoga Institute, including its appropriate use and limitations
2. Bhramari and Anulom Vilom for gentle, steady breathing and relaxation
3. The importance of identifying personal migraine triggers through a simple diary
4. The role of adequate hydration and regular meals
5. Magnesium-rich foods such as leafy greens, legumes, whole grains and nuts
6. The individual nature of food triggers, including caffeine, chocolate, fermented and processed foods
7. How regular sleep and waking times can support a more stable routine
8. The importance of gradual exercise and regular walking
9. How screen time, neck tension, jaw tension and poor posture can add to physical strain
10. Gentle practices such as Shashankasana, Yoga Mudra, Nispanda Bhava and Shavasana for relaxation
11. The importance of recognising early warning signs and resting before exhaustion builds
12. Anitya Bhavana as a way of reducing fear and mental tension around recurring migraine attacks
During an active migraine, rest in a quiet, dimly lit environment and use only practices that feel comfortable. Kapalbhati should not be practised during an attack, and Bhramari should be stopped if humming feels uncomfortable. Prescribed migraine treatment should be followed as advised by your doctor.
A sudden, severe headache, a headache with fever and stiff neck, weakness, confusion, difficulty speaking, loss of vision, a headache following a head injury, or a sudden change in headache pattern requires prompt medical evaluation.
The 21-day period is a practical starting point for building regular sleep, hydration, timely meals, gentle movement, conscious breathing and relaxation into everyday life.
