Running the Millau Viaduct — An Epic 23.7 km Trail Race

What happens when you close one of the world's most famous motorway bridges to traffic and let thousands of runners take over? This is the Course Eiffage du Viaduc de Millau — a 23.7 km race through Millau and the Tarn valley, with the highlight being almost 5 km running directly on the famous Millau Viaduct. I don't usually film myself while racing, but this one was too special to miss. The race starts in the centre of Millau before following the Tarn for the first few kilometres. Then the course climbs towards the viaduct, and eventually comes the moment we've all been waiting for: running onto the bridge itself. With the road completely closed to motorway traffic, we get to experience the viaduct in a way that's normally impossible — running 270 metres above the Tarn, with the enormous structure and the landscapes of the Grands Causses stretching out around us. I tried to capture the atmosphere, the views, the effort and, above all, what it feels like to run across this extraordinary piece of engineering. 23.7 km.
