"You can't get in because you have alcohol. But if you hurry up and drink the alcohol, you have to pee. But you can't get in because you have alcohol." Everything that happened at midnight in the main square, told on the walk home. Things that did not go to plan: the police went through my backpack and threw out the cava, the Amstel and my Prime, after I'd waited 50 minutes in line for it. The fireworks lasted about 10 seconds. There was no countdown from a minute, or from 30, it just started at one. Half the crowd left right after. Things that did go to plan: I ate my 12 grapes, some maybe German guys shared theirs with us out of proper champagne glasses, a guy who turned 30 that day asked to dance with all of us, and I spent the whole night with Rafaela and her friends, who I met in my own building that same afternoon doing laundry. Biggest crowd I've ever stood in. Everybody was vibing. Part 2 of 2. Part 1 is the walk in. Valencia, Spain. Day 23 of the Europe trip.
