The first time we've been out for two weeks but the rest didn't seem to affect Bambi, who started on the first kick and continued her role as a bit of a gentle Thumper. I was enjoying Guernsey last weekend, a place that I'd recommend, so the AJS and I both had some time off. I had only a vague idea of the direction I wanted to go but we started running into road closures after leaving Cramlington. This was for the route of the Newcastle Half Marathon, which we followed for a while. The closures came into force at 0830, which was roughly the time we arrived back at home, so trouble was avoided, although our chance to compete in the race was gone. A pity, I thought we might have done quite well. I was surprised by the number of cars that were about so early in the morning, especially after the FIFA World Cup semi-final late last night. Maybe the half marathon is the reason? For information, as far as I can tell, the half marathon starts (at 0900) and ends at Newcastle rugby club in Kingston Park. The route goes through Dinnington to Horton Grange and Blagdon, back through Brenkley to Horton Grange then back through Dinnington. We went via Cramlington and Blagdon to Dinnington then back through Wideopen, Seaton Burn, Dudley and Annitsford. This time, I've made no attempt to edit the footage, this is the full 16 miles for any fans of the AJS Model 8, like me. A cooler day than we've had recently, with cloud cover and a northeasterly breeze. A pleasant ride nonetheless.
