During this visit, the Tokyo University of the Arts was holding its annual festival, Geisai. The Takenodai Plaza featured an art market run by students, while large-scale portable shrines with intricate designs were exhibited both on campus and along the surrounding streets. The walk continues through Ueno Sakuragi, known for its renovated traditional houses, into the Yanaka district. The path leads through the cherry-tree-lined Sakura-dori in Yanaka Cemetery and the quiet temple district characteristic of this historic area. After visiting a memorial park dedicated to Tenshin Okakura, the route enters the lively Yanaka Ginza shopping street. Following the shops and eateries, the path ascends the Yuyake Dandan stairs to reach Nippori Station, a major railway hub where a transit-themed event was being held. East of Nippori Station lies the Nippori Textile Town along Nippori Chuo-dori. This district is home to hundreds of specialized shops selling fabrics and sewing materials, attracting both professional designers and hobbyists. The route passes the large fountain in Nippori Minami Park before heading northeast toward Mikawashima.
