Decorative Bread Rings & Wreaths | Part 3 Sourdough and Yeast Bread Shaping Workshop I think I covered all of the basics on these ring shapes, there are more coming and this is part 3 in my decorative bread baking series. One ring shape to rule them all and so many ways to create bread shapes. (I love old movies!) Shape, decorate and flavour bread rings while learning how to work with dough tension, elasticity and extensibility. This bread-making workshop is for both sourdough bakers and bakers using commercial yeast. I leave notes at the end and give you an opportunity to really watch the dough as it moves and tries to snap back. There are plenty of bread baking tips through out too, including how to use your oven to speed along fermenting.I fashioned a "proof box" by adding a little water and leaving the oven light on. I know newer bakers, and even experienced ones are intimidated by certain styles of baking. Dough has its own timeline and ways of reacting, so I am happy to show my experiments, what goes wrong and what goes right. I do have a couple of decorative shapes I am working toward, so I am sharing tips and adding oils, how it changes the bread crumb and how it moves as well. You are welcome to watch and follow this series as it unfolds. I'm not done with sourdough, but I'm taking a short tangent while using sourdough to show you what can be done with different bread hydrations too. When should you build tension, and when should you let the dough relax? What should you do when a ring shape pulls back, ingredients might fall out and/or your planned ring shape isn’t working? How do you make a bread ring? Even How you decorate bread? Follow my experiments as I explain what worked, what needed adjusting and how to pivot without giving up on your dough. Explore decorative shaping techniques, sweet and savoury flavours, and practical temperature tips for fermentation and final proofing. Learn how dough hydration and resting time affect shaping, so you can adapt these ideas to your own kitchen and create bread rings and wreaths for everyday meals, holidays and entertaining. I may have invented my own slap and stretch method here too, but I won't be putting it up against the masters yet. =) Original recipes and recipe development by Dawn McNaught. #DecorativeBread #BreadRings 3sourdoughbaking #sourdoughclub #BreadWreath #Sourdough #canadiancreator #YeastBread #BreadShaping #BreadMaking #BreadBaking #DoughTension #BakingTips #OriginalRecipes #DawnMcNaught
