Larry, The Downing Street Cat - International Cat Day

As it is International (World) Cat Day! 🐾 Here are a few old photographs of me looking rather lovely. On Saturday, it was a day to raise awareness for my fellow felines and to encourage people to learn more about how to help, protect, and generally keep us cats in the comfortable, well-fed manner to which we have become accustomed. I am currently in that difficult period between naps, somewhere inside my residence, where I am keeping a close eye on events while doing absolutely nothing about them. Here in London, we are apparently about to face our fifth heatwave this week. I have lived on this planet for quite some time and, frankly, I don’t remember signing up for this sort of weather. It is all very exhausting, particularly when one has important sleeping to do. Consequently, I shall be spending much of my time hidden away somewhere cool, dreaming of vast quantities of cold tuna steaks and wondering why humans insist on making such a fuss about the weather. Even if you aren’t a cat, please take care of yourself in this heat. Find some shade, drink plenty of water, and, if possible, avoid unnecessary exertion. I strongly recommend the traditional feline approach: lie down somewhere sensible and wait for it to pass.
