Progressive overload applies to mace and club training just like it does to traditional strength training. You don't need to swing the same weight forever, and you don't need to jump to a heavier mace every time training starts to feel comfortable. In this video, we break down a simple way to progress your mace and club training using double progression: build your reps at a manageable weight, increase the load once you've earned it, then build your reps again. We also cover using RPE to judge when a weight is actually manageable, what to do when you hit a plateau, when it might be time to deload, and why heavier isn't always better if your technique starts falling apart. Whether your goal is strength, muscle, conditioning, or simply becoming a better mace swinger, the fundamentals are pretty simple: Build the reps. Add some weight. Build the reps again. Repeat.
